Meatballs with Tomato Sauce
Prep Time: 5-10 minutes
Servings: 10-12 (small) 5-10 (large)
Cooking Time: 1hr
2 lbs of pork, veal, chicken or beef
½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/3 cup freshly minced parsley
1 cup of breadcrumbs
1 egg lightly beaten
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup of milk
1/2 tablespoon of salt
½ cup of oil
OR
Sauce
2 large cans of whole plum tomato
2 small cans of tomato sauce
1/2 cup of water
3 tablespoon of oil
1 teaspoon of Salt
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
2 leaves of basil
1/4 teaspoon of oregano
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2-3 sprigs of parsley
½ tablespoon of sugar
OR
Your favorite spaghetti Sauce
INSTRUCTIONS
In a mixing bowl, combine the meat seasoning and bread crumbs. Mix well. Combine milk with egg and mix well.
Shape meat into 2” meatballs (bigger or small , if desired)
In a large skillet, on medium heat, heat oil and brown meatballs on all sides
Transfer to tray lined with paper towels
In a deep heavy bottom pot, heat oil and sauté garlic and onions for 1-2 minutes
Add the tomato sauce, plum tomatoes, sugar, oregano, basil, parsley, salt & pepper. Add meatballs.
Cover and cook on low-medium heat for 30 minutes
Serve with pasta and garlic bread
